The applicant must be a permanent member of the teaching staff at the Lester B. Pearson School Board or the English Montreal School Board at the elementary or secondary level with a teaching assignment for the current school year at cycle 3, Year 1, or above.
Several scholarships are available each year and invitations to the competition have been extended to the school boards for all qualifying teachers. Please note that the Advisory Council will consider candidates who submit a joint proposal to be implemented within the same school or within different schools, as well as individual proposals.
Successful candidates will receive pre-training and follow-up activities as well as an orientation program, which will be held prior to leaving for Israel.
This year the Riva and Thomas O. Hecht Scholarship Program, Teaching of the Holocaust for Educators will award one additional scholarship. A full scholarship will be given to a spiritual animator working in the Quebec Public School system with a view to expanding the importance of the message of Holocaust education across the province.
