The goal of T.H.E. PROGRAM is to provide professional development opportinities to teachers of all faiths and ethnicities from all parts of Quebec, for teaching about the Holocaust and anti-Semitism in the classrooms. T.H.E. PROGRAM sends several teachers each year to participate in studies. Increased future funding will enable additional school boards to participate, thus increasing the number of teachers to be enriched by this professional development project.
The impact of the Israel experience has been widely observed in Quebec as more teachers and students are exposed to the concepts and ideas about ways to stem the actions of hatred, violence and anti-Semitism. Teachers who attended T.H.E. Program have received many requests for presentations, information sessions and workshops. Example are the presentations made in Israel at Yad Vashem by Mrs. Evelyn Howard and at Teachers' Conferences in Montreal. Other examples include Holocaust survivor testimonies given to students at Elizabeth Ballantyne School (Mrs. Gail Jebson's class) and St. Edmund School (Ms. Anne Edgar's class).
