The Riva and Thomas O. Hecht Scholarship Program, Teaching of the Holocaust for Educators, takes great pleasure in announcing the winners for the 2010-2011 Summer Session of the International Seminare for Educators at Yad Vashem, Israel.  They are:

2009-2010 Summer session winners!

The Riva and Thomas O. Hecht Scholarship Program, Teaching of the Holocaust for Educators, is pleased to announce the winners for the 2009-2010 Summer Session of the International Seminar for Educators at Yad Vashem. They are:

  • Deborah Dixon, Beurling Academy, Lester B. Pearson School Board
  • Donna Friedman-Perlin, St. Monica's Elementary School, English Montreal School Board
  • Gail Jebson, Elizabeth Ballantyne School, English Montreal School Board.

These teachers, along with many others from Canada, the US, and around the world, will take part in a three week professional development excperience at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Israel.

The faculty includes members of the government, the military, and teaching faculty at various Israeli universities.

Congratulations and best wishes for an interesting and instructive experience!


Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board is welcomed as a new partner.

The Riva and Thomas O. Hecht Scholarship Program welcomes the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board as a new partner. They join the English Montreal School Board and the Lester B. Pearson School Board in this very important educational initiative.

TOOLS FOR HOLOCAUST AND HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION IN TODAY'S SCHOOLS

The Riva and Thomas O. Hecht Scholarship Program was pleased to partner with the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre in presenting an outstanding and very successful bilingual conference of importance to today?s schools in Quebec.

One hundred and twenty people attended "Tools for Holocaust and Human Rights Education in Today's Schools" including teachers, student teachers, social activists, museum docents and journalists.
